D. Prepare for the Removal
S 494-002
(1) Make sure the landing gear ground locks are installed
(AMM 09-11-00/201).

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2)
Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

(4)
Make sure the wheel chocks are installed at all wheels.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Release the parking brake.
(7)
Remove the pressure from hydraulic system No. 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do these steps to remove the hydraulic fluid from the brake accumulator:
(a)
Look at the pressure indication of the HYD BRAKE PRESS gage on the Captain's Main Instrument Panel, P1.

(b) Slowly push one set of brake pedals to the limit of travel, hold momentarily, and then release. Do this cycle again 10 times. 1) Make sure the pressure indication of the HYD BRAKE PRESS
gage decreases during the manual brake operation.
2) After ten cycles of manual brake operation, make sure the HYD BRAKE PRESS gage does not continue to decrease in pressure.

Do these steps to release the gas from the surge accumulator:
(a)
Remove the dust cap from the air charging valve.
WARNING:_______DO NOT LOOSEN THE VALVE BODY. IF YOU LOOSEN THE VALVE BODY, THE VALVE CAN BLOW OFF. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b)
Loosen the swivel hexagonal nut on the air charging valve a maximum of one turn.
(c)
Look at the pressure gage located near the surge accumulator.
(d)
Make sure the pressure gage shows zero pressure.

Procedure

(1)
Do these steps to remove the surge accumulator:
(a)
Disconnect the hydraulic line from the surge accumulator.
(b)
Put a cap on the hydraulic line and a plug on the surge accumulator port.
(c)
Disconnect the gas line from the surge accumulator.
(d)
Hold the surge accumulator in its position.
