Bleed the Brake Lines (Fig. 201)

Do these steps to prepare the bleed port:
(a)
Remove the screw and washer from the end of the bleeder valve.
(b)
Install a hose on the end of the bleeder valve.
(c)
Put a container below the brake bleeder port and make sure the fluid can go from the hose into the container.

Do these steps to bleed the brakes (normal system):
(a)
Slowly push the captain's brake pedals to approximately one-half the distance to the stops and then slowly release the brake pedals. 1) Do this six times to cause a separation of the air from the
fluid in the lines.
(b)
Push the brake pedals to the stops and then release them. 1) Do this six times.
WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE BRAKE PEDALS WHEN THE BLEED PORT IS
_______ OPEN. HYDRAULIC FLUID THAT COMES OUT AT A HIGH PRESSURE CAN CAUSE INJURIES.
(c)
Put goggles on for eye protection.
(d)
Make sure that the parking brake is released and the brake pedals are released.
(e)
Open the bleeder valve slowly about one-half of a turn until the fluid begins to flow from the hose.

CAUTION:_______ TIGHTEN THE BRAKE BLEEDER VALVE TO 45 POUND-INCHES MAXIMUM
TO INSTALL OR CLOSE THE VALVE. IF YOU TIGHTEN THE VALVE
TO MORE THAN 45 POUND-INCHES, YOU WILL DAMAGE THE BRAKE
BLEEDER ADAPTER AND CAUSE THE BRAKE TO HAVE A LEAK.
(f) Close the bleeder valve.

Install a lockwire to safety the adapter of the brake bleeder assembly to the brake unit housing.
