 3)  After the brakes are operated for two minutes, look to make sure there are no leaks around the brake unit housing, and at the hydraulic brake disconnect. No leaks are permitted.
 4)  Release the brakes.

 (d)  Do these steps to do a check for sufficient running clearance at the brake:
 NOTE: The running clearance is the distance between the
____ pressure plate and each piston insulator of a brake unit.
 1) Make sure the parking brake is released.
 2) Make sure the brakes are not operated manually.
 3) Turn all rotors of the brake unit at the same time.
 4) Make sure all the rotors turn freely.

 (e)  Remove the power from hydraulic system 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 CAUTION: DO NOT PUT FORCE ON THE HEAT SHIELDS OF THE BRAKE UNIT WHEN YOU
_______ REMOVE AND INSTALL THE WHEEL AND TIRE. BENT HEAT SHIELDS FREQUENTLY CANNOT BE REPAIRED. A BRAKE UNIT WITH A BENT HEAT SHIELD WILL CAUSE SCORING OF THE WHEEL INNER SURFACE WHEN THE WHEEL TURNS.

 Install the wheel and tire assembly (AMM 32-45-01/401).

 Connect the brake rod to the torque arm of the brake unit housing with the bolt (2), washer (3), and nut (4) (Fig. 402).


 NOTE: Install the bolt with the bolthead to the truck beam side.

 (a)  Apply a thick layer of Royco 11MS grease to the bolt shank and threads, the washer and the nut.

Tighten the nut 10-50 pound-feet.

If it is necessary, turn the nut counterclockwise to align the castellations in the nut with the nearest locking hole in the bolt.

Install the cotter pin (5).
