A. Preparation for Deactivation
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1) Use a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean the area around the damage.

B. Deactivation of the Wing-tip Fence
(1)
Examine the wing tip and the wing-tip fence.
(2)
If the damage extends to the wing-tip, replace the wing-tip (Ref. TASK 57-31-21-000-001) (Ref. TASK 57-31-21-400-001) and the wing-tip fence (Ref. TASK 57-31-22-000-001) (Ref. TASK 57-31-22-400-001).
(3)
If the damage is confined to the maximum area (Ref. Fig. 401), do the steps that follow:
(a) If necessary, remove sharp and/or badly damaged contours on the edges of the wing-tip fence.
NOTE : Damage to the structure that attaches the wing-tip fence
____ to the wing-tip is not permitted. Damage to the cast nose piece is not permitted.
(b) Apply a layer of BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-061A) to temporarily repair the wing tip fence.

If the damage is more than the maximum area (Ref. Fig. 401), do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the wing-tip fence (Ref. TASK 57-31-22-000-001).
(b)
Apply a layer of BONDING AND ADHESIVE COMPOUNDS (Material No. 08-061A) to cover the aircraft internal structure.
(5)
Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons that:
-
the wing-tip fence has been deactivated
-
the aircraft performance is decreased to the limits given in the CDL.
(6)
Write down in the aircraft log that the wing-tip fence has been deactivated.

B. Removal of Equipment
(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Remove the access platform(s).
(3)
Remove the safety barriers.
(4)
Remove the warning notices from the cockpit that tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(5)
Remove the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER from the flap/slat control lever.
(6)
Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and
standard tools and all other items.
