R A. Safety Precautions
R (1) Put the safety barriers in position.
R (2) Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001)
R on the flap/slat control lever.
R (3) Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the
R flaps or slats.
R (4) Put the adjustable access platform position below the applicable
R drain-holes in the access panels and the bottom skin of the wing,
R zones 521(621) and 522(622).

R A. Inspection of the Drain Holes and Hoses
R (1) Examine the outer wing drain holes and make sure that they are not
R blocked.
R (a) If a hole is blocked, remove the applicable access panel.
R (b) Remove all unwanted material from around the hole. Use a 5.0 mm
R (0.2 in.) dia. non-metallic probe to remove the blockage from the
R hole.
R (2) Examine the drain hole(s) in the dry bay(s) and make sure that they
R are not blocked.
R (a) If a hole is blocked, remove all unwanted material from around
R the hole. Use a 5.0 mm (0.2 in.) dia. non-metallic probe to
R remove the blockage from the hole.
R (3) To examine the drain holes of the slat-track cans, do the steps that
R follow:
R (a) Put the end of a 9.50 mm (0.375 in.) dia. soft rubber tube into
R each drain hose.

R (b) Use a low pressure air supply to blow through the tube.
R (c) If the hose is not clear, remove all unwanted material.
R (4) Find the cause of the blockage.
R (5) If you removed an access panel, install it.

R A. Removal of Equipment
R (1) Remove the warning notice(s).
R (2) Remove the safety barriers.
R (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other
R items.
R (4) Remove the access platform(s).
R (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and
R standard tools and all other items.
