 A. Safety Precautions
 (1)
 Put the safety barriers in position.

 (2)
 Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) on the flap/slat control lever.

 (3)
 Put the warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

 (1)
 Put the access platform below the applicable wing-tip, zone 534(634).

 (2)
 If necessary, remove the applicable Navigation Light Glazing Panel (Ref. TASK 57-37-12-000-001).

 


 4. Procedure_________
 Subtask 57-37-12-350-050
 A. To Repair the Navigation Light Lens
 NOTE : A Micro-mesh polishing kit is necessary for this repair procedure.
____
 NOTE : To help keep the acrylic lens cool and prevent heat distortion,
____ the surface of the lens must be kept wet with sufficient water. A small amount of liquid detergent can be added to the water to help with lubrication.
 NOTE : Always wind the abrasive papers around the foam block and work in
____ a straight-line movement and at alternate right angles. Each subsequent application of abrasive paper must overlap the area that was worked before. Make sure that the damage has been removed before you continue with the subsequent grade of abrasive paper. Protect all areas of the lens that do not require repair.
 (1)
 Measure and record the maximum depth of the damage to be repaired. The maximum depth of damage that can be repaired is 0.889 mm (0.0350 in.).
