A. Safety Precautions
(1)
Put the safety barriers in position.
(2)
Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) on the flap/slat control lever.
(3)
Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4)
Put the access platform in position below zone 500(600).
(5)
Install the wing safety rope (Ref. TASK 12-00-00-481-001).

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean:
-the wing top-skin between the front spar and the rear spar from RIB8 to RIB22.

B. General Visual Inspection of the Outer Wing, Top Skin, Upper Surface at Attachment to Front Spar and Rear Spar, Between RIB8 and RIB22
(1) Inspect the wing top-skin at the locations where the skin is attached to the front spar and the rear spar. Make sure that:
-
there is no corrosion
-
there are no cracks, dents, burrs, scores or scratches
-
the fasteners are in the correct condition
-
the surface protection is not damaged or loose.
NOTE : If necessary, refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 572100) for the

correct repair procedure.

A. Removal of Equipment
(1)
Remove the wing safety rope (Ref. TASK 12-00-00-081-001).
(2)
Remove the safety barriers.
(3)
Remove the warning notice(s).
(4)
Remove the access platform(s).
(5)
Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

The leading edge slat tracks (Ref. 57-40-00) go through holes in the front
spar. Track cans are attached to the front spar and isolate the tracks from
the wing fuel tanks. A track can is not necessary in the dry bay (Ref.
57-21-00).

Track cans 11 and 12 are made from pressed aluminum alloy and aluminum alloy plate welded together. The remaining cans are made from an aluminum alloy tube and aluminum alloy plate welded together.
