R  not more than 20 degrees from the aircraft horizontal (DIM 'X'). 
R  (12) If the DIM 'X' is more than 20 degrees, do these steps: 
R  (a) Remove the bearing-housing assembly (6). 
R  (b) Remove laminations from the shim (1) as necessary. Make sure that 
R  the shim (1) has no more than a maximum thickness of 1 mm (0.04 
R  in.). 
R  NOTE : Each lamination has a thickness of 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.).____ 
R  (c) Install the shim (1). 
R  (d) Install the bearing-housing assembly (6). 
R  (e) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (6) to 8.6 m.daN (63.42 
R  lbf.ft). 
R  (f) Do a check of DIM 'X' again.

R (13) When the DIM 'X' is correct, remove the bearing-housing assembly (6).

R  (14) Clean the threads of the retaining nut (10) with a MISCELLANEOUS 
R  (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 
R  11-026). 
R  (15) Apply a thin layer of SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) to the 
R  last two threads of the retaining nut (10) (DIM 'Z'). 
R  (16) Fill the space between the retaining nut (10) and the bush (11) with 
R  COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004). 
R  Subtask 57-26-13-420-050-A 
R  B. Installation of the Bearing Assembly 
R  (1) Install the bearing-housing assembly (6). 
R  (2) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (6) to 5.6 m.daN (41.29 lbf.ft). 
R  (3) Install the locking ring (5). Make sure that the chamfer of the 
R  locking ring (5) is against the forward pintle fitting. 
R  (4) Clean the edge of the locking ring (5) and the adjacent surface of 
R  the pintle fitting with a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) 
R  made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026). 
R  (5) Put a bead of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-002) around the edge of the 
R  locking ring (5). 
R  (6) Install the seal assembly (4) with the eight bolts (3). 
R  (7) Safety the bolts (3) with lockwire, corrosion resistant steel 0.8 mm 
R  (0.032 in.) dia. 
R  (8) Clean the threads of the two greasers (2) with a clean MISCELLANEOUS 
R  (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 
R  11-026). 
R  (9) Put a thin layer of SEALANTS (Material No. 09-018) or SEALANTS 
R  (Material No. 09-019) on the threads of the greasers (2). 
R  (10) Install the greasers (2) in the seal assembly (4). Make sure that the 
R  angle (DIM 'Y') is between 0 degrees and 120 degrees. If the greasers 
R  do not fit at the correct angle then use different greasers. This 
R  makes sure that you have access to the greasers to lubricate the 
R  bearing (7).

R (11) Put grease into the greasers (2) to make sure that they are clear.

 A. Preparation For Installation
 (1)
 Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).

 (2)
 Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.

 (3)
 Do an inspection of the retaining nut (11) (Ref. NTM 57-29-01 PART 9). If the threads of the retaining nut (11) are damaged or have corrosion, do one of the steps that follow:

 (a)
 Record all areas of thread damage and corrosion on the data recording sheets specified in (Ref. NTM 57-29-01 PART 9). Send the completed data recording sheets to Airbus Customer Support for the necessary repair instructions.

 or

 (b)
 Do the repair by replacement of the forward pintle bearing retaining nut, (Ref. ASRM 57-26-13-201).

 

 (4)
 Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

 (5)
 Put a thin layer of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004) on the interface and the threads of the bearing housing-halves (9).

 (6)
 Fill the grease grooves in the bearing (8) and the bearing housing-halves (9) with COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004).

 (7)
 Install the two new O-ring seals (10) in the seal grooves on the bearing (8).
