3) Probes with red alignment marks: a) While you push the MCD probe (4) in, turn the MCD probe (4) clockwise until it stops.
 NOTE: Make sure that the red marks on the grip are
____ aligned with the red marks on the MCD housing.

MAGNETIC CHIP DETECTOR - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure gives the tasks to examine the probes of the magnetic chip detector (MCD). Examine the MCD probes and the primary oil filter at the same time to find possible oil system contamination.
 B.  There are six MCDs installed at these locations:
 (1)  
The primary gearbox drain

 (2)  
The drain on the oil tank (the primary MCD)

 (3)  
The housing of the lubrication and the scavenge oil pump (4 locations)

 (a)  
The scavenge oil inlet for the No. 3 bearing

 (b)  
The scavenge oil inlet for the No. 4 bearing

 (c)  
The scavenge oil inlet for the angle gearbox

 (d)  
The scavenge oil inlet for the No. 1, 1.5, and No. 2 bearings

 

 C.  
Open the necessary thrust reverser half to get to the MCDs.
