If the valve (18) was removed from the air/oil heat exchanger (1), do the steps that follow:

 (a)  
Put the air/oil heat exchanger (1) to the valve (18).

 1)  Align the couplings for the servo fuel supply, return, and drain tubes with the holes in the bulkhead of the air/oil heat exchanger (1).

 (b)  
Attach the couplings to the bulkhead on the air/oil heat
 exchanger (1) with the jamnuts (44).
 1) Tighten the jamnuts (44) with your hand.

ENGINES WITHOUT THE BRACKET (45);
 Do the steps that follow:
 1) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (32) with engine oil.
 2) Attach the valve (18) to the air/oil heat exchanger (1)


 with the bolts (32), washers (31), and nuts (30). a) Tighten the nuts (30) to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5 newton-meters).

 (d)  
ENGINES WITH THE BRACKET (45); Do the steps that follow: 1) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (32) with engine oil. 2) Attach the valve (18) and the bracket (45) to the air/oil

 heat exchanger (1) with the bolts (32), washers (31), and nuts (30). 3) Tighten the nuts (30) to 36-40 pound-inches (4.1-4.5 newton-meters).

 (e)  
Tighten the jamnuts (44) to 70-80 pound-inches (7.9-9.0
 newton-meters).
 1) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable

 

 ferrule to the jamnuts (44).

 (5)  If the inlet collars (13) are removed, do the steps that follow:
 (a)  
Lubricate the packing (14) with the petrolatum.

 (b)  
Install the packing (14) to the inlet collars (13).

 (c)  
Install the inlet collars (13) to the valve ducts.

Lubricate the packing (15) with the petrolatum.

Install the packing (15) to the inlet collar (13).


 (a)  ENGINES PRE-PW-SB 79-60;
 Make sure the four inboard bolts (4) and washers (3), are
 installed loosely to the rear of the intermediate case as
 follows:
 1) Make sure the four bolts (4) threads are lubricated with

 engine oil.
 NOTE: Make sure the bolts with washers are installed
____
 loosely in the bolt holes.

 NOTE: Make sure the washers are sealed (attached) to the
____
 bolt heads with beeswax.

 2)  Set the height of the bolts (4) with the PWA 87505 positioner.
 (b)  ENGINES POST-PW-SB 79-60; Make sure the four inboard bolt and washer assemblies (4) are loosely installed in in the rear of the intermediate case. 1) Set the height of the bolt and washer assemblies (4) with a
 PWA 87505 positioner.

_______ OF THE VALVE DUCTS. THE INLET COLLARS CAN BREAK OFF. IF YOU HOLD THE VALVE DUCTS BY THE INLET COLLARS, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (8)  
Install the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18) until the lower bracket (21) is between the flange of the intermediate case and fan exit liner.

Turn in the higher end of the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18) until the higher bracket (29) is away from the flange of the fan exit liner.

 (10)
 Lift the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18), to put it on the intermediate case, until the mount holes for the lower and higher bracket (21, 29) align with the supports.
