Install the adapter (20) to the oil inlet port.
1) Tighten the adapter (20) to 650-750 pound-inches (73.4-83.7 newton-meters).

Lubricate the packing (17) with engine oil.
(o)
Install the packing (17) to the adapter (22).
(p)
Install the drain tube adapter (22), do not lubricate the threads, to the bypass valve (25). 1) Tighten the adapter (22) to 40 - 50 pound-inches
(4.5 - 5.6 newton-meters).
(q)
Install the tee (22A), do not lubricate the threads, to the adapter (22). 1) While you hold the adapter (22), tighten the tee (22A) to
200 - 225 pound-inches (22.6 - 25.4 newton-meters).
(r)
Install the elbow (31), do not lubricate the threads, to the tee (22A). 1) While you hold the tee (22A), tighten the elbow (31) to
200 - 225 pound-inches (22.6 - 25.4 newton-meters).
(s)
Lubricate the packing (24) with engine oil.
(t)
Install the packing (24) to the adapter (23).
(u)
Lubricate the threads of the adapter (23) with engine oil.
(v)
Install the adapter (23) to the inlet port for the IDG oil.
1) Tighten the adapter (23) to 375-425 pound-inches (42.4-48.0 newton-meters).
(w)
Install a lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule to all adapters.

Install the new packings and the new retainers to the oil and fuel tubes with the steps that follow:
(a)
Lubricate the packing (11) with engine oil.
(b)
Install the packing (11) and the retainer (10) to the inlet tube (3) for the IDG oil (Fig. 402).
(c)
Lubricate the packing (9) with engine oil.
(d)
Install the packing (9) and the retainer (8) to the oil inlet tube (2) (Fig. 402).
(e)
Lubricate the packing (7) with engine oil.
(f)
Install the packing (7) and the retainer (6) to the oil return tube (1) for the bypass valve (25) (Fig. 402).
(g)
Lubricate the packing (6) with engine oil.
(h)
Install the packing (6) and the retainer (5) to the fuel inlet tube (8) (Fig. 403).

Lubricate the packing (6) with engine oil.

Install the packing (6) and the retainer (5) to the fuel inlet tube (7) (Fig. 403).

Lubricate the packing (3) with engine oil.
(l)
Install the packing (3) and the retainer (2) to the fuel outlet tube (4) (Fig. 403).
(m)
Lubricate the packing (1) with engine oil.
(n)
Install the packing (1) to the outlet tube (6) for the IDG oil (Fig. 404).

(5) Install the fuel/oil cooler (1) and bypass valve (25) to the engine with the steps that follow (Fig. 405):
(a)
Make sure the forward mount hinge (42) is installed to the forward mount pin (40).
(b)
Put the fuel/oil cooler (1) to the engine with the aft end of the fuel/oil cooler lifted a small distance.
NOTE: You can move the wire harnesses forward to get the
____ necessary clearance for the installation of the fuel/oil cooler.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU WHEN LOWER THE FUEL/OIL COOLER AND THE
_______ BYPASS VALVE (ADAPTERS) ON THE FUEL AND OIL TUBES. IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PACKINGS AND RETAINERS.
(c) Lower the aft end of the fuel/oil cooler to align the aft flange with the engine bracket.
NOTE: Do not install the washer at the bracket (43).

(d)
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (44) with engine oil.
(e)
Attach the aft flange and the bracket (43) with the bolts (44) and washers (45). 1) Tighten the bolts (44) to 180-200 pound-inches
(20.3-22.5 newton-meters).
