F. Procedure

(1) Lubricate the new packing (2, 10, or 18) with engine oil.

CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE MCD HOUSING WITH A PACKING ON IT. IF THE MCD HOUSING DOES NOT HAVE A PACKING, AN OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

Install the new packing (2, 10, or 18) to the MCD housing
(1, 9, or 17).

Install the MCD housing (1, 9, or 17) with the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove protective cap from the port.
(b)
Lubricate the new packing (2, 10, or 18) with engine oil.
(c)
Lubricate the threads of the MCD housing (1, 9, or 17) with engine oil.
(d)
Tighten the MCD housing (1) on the lubrication and scavenge oil pump to 90-100 pound-inches (10.2-11.3 newton-meters). 1) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable
ferrule to the MCD housing (1).
(e)
Tighten the MCD housing (9) on the drain port of the main gearbox to 200-225 pound-inches (22.6-25.4 newton-meters).
NOTE: When you install the MCD housing into the main gearbox,
____ hold the bushing with a wrench. If this is not done, the bushing will become to tight.
1) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule to the MCD housing (9).
(f) Tighten the master MCD housing (17) on the drain port of the oil tank to 200-225 pound-inches (22.6-25.4 newton-meters). 1) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable
ferrule to the master MCD housing (17).

(4) Install the MCD probe.

(5) Close the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
