Prepare for the Installation

 (1)  
Examine the clearance between the forward mount pin (40) and the bearing in the forward mount hinge (42) (Fig. 405).

 (a)  
Make sure the clearance is in the limits found in the table below.

 G.  Install the Fuel/Oil Cooler and the Bypass Valve.
 S 434-025-N00
 (1)  If they are not together, attach the bypass valve (25) to the fuel/oil cooler (1) with the steps that follow (Fig. 405):
 (a)  
Remove the protection caps.

 (b)  
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (10) with engine oil.

 (c)  
Attach the bypass valve (25) and the gasket (8) to the fuel/oil cooler (1) with the bolts (10) and washers (9).

 (d)  
Tighten the bolts (10) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7 N.m.).


 1)  Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule to the bolts (10).

 (2)  If it is necessary to replace the fuel/oil cooler (1) and you do not have the detail parts, do the steps that follow (Fig. 405):
 (a)  
Remove the protection caps.

 (b)  
Lubricate the threads of the nut (39) with Hi-T650 antigalling compound.

(c)  Attach the forward mount pin (40) and the retainer (41) to the
 forward flange of the fuel/oil cooler (1) with the nut (39) and
 washer (37).
 (d)  Tighten the nut to 550-750 pound-inches (62.1-84.7 N.m.).
 (e)  Install the cotter pin (38).
 (f)  Lubricate the packing (2) with petrolatum.
 (g)  Install the packing (2) to the adapter (3).
 (h)  Lubricate the threads of the adapter (3) with Engine Oil.
 (i)  Install the adapter (3) to the fuel outlet port.
 1) Tighten the adapter (3) to 650-750 pound-inches
 (73.4-84.7 newton-meters).
 (j)  Lubricate the packing (11) with petrolatum.
 (k)  Install the packing (11) to the adapter (12).
 (l)  Lubricate the threads of the adapter (12) with Hi-T650
