(10) Remove the remaining bolts (1) which attach the oil tank (15) and the heat shield (2) to the main gearbox.

CAUTION: TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE GEARBOX HOUSING, MAKE SURE ALL THE OIL
_______ TANK TO GEARBOX ATTACHMENT BOLTS ARE REMOVED BEFORE INSTALLING PWA 88231 PULLER.
(11)
Use a PWA 88231 Jackscrew Puller to carefully remove the oil tank from the gearbox as follows:
(a)
Put the upper clamp ring half and the lower clamp ring half
around the oil tank between the bolt flange and the
circumferential weld.
(b)
Attach the two clamp ring halves to the oil tank with the two detail socket head cap screws.
(c)
Tighten the two cap screws to pull the upper and lower clamp
ring halves together.
(d)
Install the four detail jackscrews into the internal thread
holes of the puller.
(e)
Tighten the four jackscrews slowly and equally to disengage the oil tank from the gearbox.
(f)
Remove the oil tank and puller from the engine.
(g)
Remove the puller from the oil tank. 1) Loosen and remove the two detail socket head cap screws. 2) Remove the upper and lower clamp ring halves from the oil
tank.
(h)
Discard the packings (31, 32) from the oil tank (15).
(i)
Discard the packings (30, 33) from the check valve housing and the transfer tube.

Remove the oil quantity transmitter (AMM 79-31-01/401).

If it is necessary to replace the oil tank (15) and the detail parts are not supplied with the new oil tank, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the clamp (14) which attaches the heat shield (2) to the oil tank (15).
(b)
Remove the heat shield (2).
(c)
Remove the bolt (11) which attaches the lanyard to the filler neck sump and valve (8).
(d)
Remove the oil tank cap (10) and lanyard.
(e)
Discard the packing (9).
(f)
Remove the bolts (11) which attach the filler neck sump and
valve (8) and the scupper drain (12) to the oil tank (15).
(g)
Remove the filler neck sump and valve (8) and the scupper drain (12). 1) Discard the packing (7).

Do the steps that follow:
NOTE: Oil tanks with the cutaway end do not have a sight

gage.
1) Remove the bolts (6) which attach the sight gage (5) to the oil tank (15). 2) Remove the sight gage (5). a) Discard the packing (4) and the gasket (3).
(i) Install the protection caps on all openings.
