(5) Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to start the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).
(a)
Set the thrust lever to the idle position.
1) Operate the engine at idle for five minutes.
(b)
Make sure the engine parameters are within the operating limits (AMM 71-00-00/201).
(c)
Set the thrust lever at TAKE-OFF power.
1) Stay at TAKE-OFF for one minute.
NOTE: It is possibly necessary to operate the engine at
____ TAKE-OFF power for more time to make sure the area around the leak is wet. But, keep the operation time to a minimum to prevent too much leakage.
(d) Set the thrust lever to 1.3 EPR.
1) Stay at 1.3 EPR for 2 to 3 minutes.
NOTE: It is possibly necessary to operate the engine at
____ 1.3 EPR power for more time to make sure the area around the leak is wet. But, keep the operation time to a minimum to prevent too much leakage.

Remove the magnetic chip detectors to drain the engine oil with the dye in it from the oil system (AMM 79-21-10/401).
