(22) Remove the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18) from the engine with the steps that follow:
(a)
Sufficiently pull out the air/oil heat exchanger (1) to lower the lower bracket (21) between the intermediate case and flange on the fan exit liner.
(b)
Turn out the higher end of the air/oil heat exchanger (1) until the higher bracket (29) is away from the flange of the fan exit liner.
WARNING: DO NOT HOLD THE VALVE BY THE INLET COLLARS, WHICH ARE NOT
_______ PARTS OF THE VALVE DUCTS. THE INLET COLLARS CAN BREAK OFF. IF YOU HOLD THE VALVE DUCTS BY THE INLET COLLARS, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(c)
Lift up and pull out the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18) from the intermediate case.
(d)
Discard the packings (15).
(e)
Install the protection caps.

(23) If it is necessary, remove the valve (18) from the heat exchanger (1) with the steps that follow:
(a)
Put the air/oil heat exchanger (1) and valve (18) assembly on a clean, flat surface.
(b)
Remove the jamnuts (44) and, if installed, washers and the plate or bolts which attach the servo fuel drain (40), supply (41), and return tubes (42) to the bulkhead on the heat exchanger (1).
(c)
Remove the bolts (32), nuts (30), and washers (31) from the mating flange of the valve (18) and the heat exchanger (1).
(d)
Remove the valve (18) from the heat exchanger (1).

(24) If it is necessary to install a new valve (18), do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the bolt(s) (38), nut (39), and clamps (37 and 43) which attach the servo fuel supply tube (41) to the servo fuel drain tube (40).
(b)
Remove the servo fuel drain (40), supply (41), and return (42) tubes from the adapters (34, 36).
(c)
Remove the three adapters (34, 36) from the valve ports.
(d)
Discard the packings (33, 35).
(e)
Install the protection caps on all openings.

(25) If it is necessary to install the new heat exchanger (1), do the steps that follow:
(a) Remove the short bolts (17) which attach the higher (29) and lower (21) mounting brackets to the heat exchanger (1).
