(b) If you find oil leakage around the oil tank and the gearbox interface, remove the oil tank (Ref 79-11-01/401): 1) Visually examine the oil tank and the gearbox mounting surfaces for cracks. a) If you find cracks in the oil tank, replace it (Ref 79-11-01/401). b) If you find cracks in the gearbox, replace the engine (Ref 71-00-02/401).
 c)  If there are no cracks in the oil tank or the gearbox, install the oil tank with new packings (Ref 79-11-01/401).
 (c) If you find oil leakage around the mounting flange of the oil quantity transmitter, remove the transmitter. 1) Visually examine the mounting surfaces of the transmitter and the oil tank for cracks. a) If you find cracks in the transmitter, replace it (Ref 79-31-01/401). b) If you find cracks in the oil tank, replace it (Ref 79-11-01/401).
 c)  If there are no cracks in the tank or the transmitter, install the transmitter with a new packing (Ref 79-31-01/401).
 (d)  If you find oil leakage around the oil cap flange, the sump connector, or the filler valve, remove the applicable item. 1) Visually examine the mounting surfaces for cracks.
 a)  If you find cracks in a filler neck item, replace the item (Ref 79-11-01/401). b) If you find cracks in the tank, replace it (Ref 79-11-01/401). c) If there are no cracks in the tank or the filler neck, install the items with new packings (Ref 79-11-01/401).
 (e) If you find oil leakage around the mounting flange of the oil level gage, remove the gage. 1) Visually examine the mounting surfaces of the oil level gage and the oil tank for cracks. a) If you find cracks in the tank, replace it (Ref 79-11-01/401).
 b)  If you find cracks in the oil level gage, or if the packing is damaged, replace the gage or the packing as follows:

OIL TANK CAP - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure gives the tasks to open the oil tank cap, to replace the packing if necessary and to close it. The oil tank cap is referred to as the cap assembly in this procedure.
 B.  You can get to the cap assembly through the oil fill access. The oil fill access is on the left half of the thrust reverser, at the 8 o'clock position.
