Do the task: "Remove the Magnetic Chip Detector Probe".

Remove the magnetic chip detector housing as follows:
(a) Put the container below the applicable drain port.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU OPEN THE OIL TANK CAP, PERMIT A MINIMUM OF FIVE
_______ MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN TO LET THE PRESSURE IN THE OIL TANK BLEED OFF. A FAST FLOW OF HOT OIL CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
DO NOT KEEP THE OIL ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN THE OIL OFF, THE OIL CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN THE OIL OFF, THE OIL CAN CAUSE A STAIN

ON YOUR CLOTHES AND PAINT WILL BECOME SOFT.
(b)
Loosen the oil tank cap.
(c)
Remove the lockwire from the housing.

(d)
Put a wrench on the flats of the housing and remove the housing.
(e)
Discard the packing (2) from the MCD housing (1).
NOTE: The assembly packing is next to the hex of the housing.

(f)
Tighten the oil tank cap.
(g)
Install the protection caps.

Remove the probe packing and the housing packing (Fig. 402)

Do the steps that follow to remove the probe packing:
(a)
Remove the magnetic probe (4, 12, or 20).
(b)
Remove and discard the packing (19) that is on the probe.
