Examine the Oil System for Leaks

(1)
Add dye to the engine oil in the oil system.
(a)
Do not add more than 0.50 fluid ounces (14.8 ml) of dye for each 10 gallons (37.85 liter) of engine oil.

(2) Do the cleaning procedure to remove the remaining engine oil on the external part of the engine (AMM 70-42-03/201).

Set the thrust lever to the idle position.
1) Operate the engine at idle for five minutes.
(b)
Make sure the engine parameters are within the operating limits (AMM 71-00-00/201).

(8) Use the Power Plant Operation (Normal) procedure to do the engine shutdown (AMM 71-00-00/201).

NOTE: The location of the leak will show by the red dye on the

external part of the component.
(a)
Examine the seal drains for signs of the red dye.
(b)
If there are signs of the dye, do the necessary steps to correct the leak.
