 (a)  Apply the solvent through the element with a clean brush.
 (3)  S 166-004-N00Put the solvent which is caught in the container through a paper paint strainer, or the equivalent, to catch the contamination in the solvent.
 (4)  S 226-005-N00If there is contamination, do the inspection for the oil system contamination (Ref 72-00-00/601).
 (5)  S 426-006-N00Install the new element for the main oil filter (Ref 79-21-05/401).

MAIN OIL FILTER PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure removes and installs the pressure relief valve for the main oil filter.
 B.  The pressure relief valve is installed on the forward side of the housing for the main oil filter. The housing is attached to the forward face of the main gearbox at the 8 o'clock position.
 C.  You can get access to the pressure relief valve through the left thrust reverser half.
 NOTE: For engines with PW SB 72-525 (Dual Element Oil Filter),
____ see AMM 79-21-05/401 for removal and installation of the pressure relief valve.

 2.  Remove the Main Oil Filter Pressure Relief Valve (Fig. 401)

 WARNING: BEFORE YOU OPEN THE OIL TANK CAP, PERMIT A MINIMUM OF FIVE
_______ MINUTES AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN TO LET THE PRESSURE IN THE OIL TANK BLEED OFF. A FAST FLOW OF HOT OIL CAN OCCUR AND CAUSE INJURY TO YOU.
 DO NOT KEEP THE OIL ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN THE OIL OFF, THE OIL CAN CAUSE INJURY.
 (2)  
Put the container below the pressure relief valve (2) to catch the remaining oil.

Remove the pressure relief valve (2) from the housing of the main oil filter.

 (a)  Discard the packing (1, 3).
