_______ RELEASE THE PRESSURE IN THE SHOCK STRUT. INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE VALVE FROM THE STRUT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 CAUTION:_______LET THE AIR OUT OF THE STRUT SLOWLY. IF YOU LET THE AIR OUT OF THE STRUT QUICKLY, THE FLUID WILL COME THROUGH THE AIR VALVE. IF THE FLUID GETS ON THE TIRES AND OTHER SURFACES, IT CAN CAUSE DETERIORATION.
 (b)  Slowly loosen the outer nuts on the air valves a maximum of two turns.
 NOTE: Bubbles will come out of the air valve immediately
____ after you loosen the outer nut.
 (c)  Let the inner cylinders fully compress.

 (2)  Remove the flow fuse assembly from the lower outer cylinder that you will service (AMM 32-11-02/201).

 (3)  S 843-007Drain the fluid from the shock strut into a container.
 NOTE:____ There will be approximately 21 gallons of fluid in each of the wing shock struts.
 (4)  S 433-008Install the flow fuse (AMM 32-11-02/201).
 (5)  S 863-009Do this task: "Wing Landing Gear Shock Strut Servicing" (AMM 12-15-03/301).

 WING LANDING GEAR SHOCK STRUT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks:
 (1)
The removal of the shock strut from the wing landing gear

 (2)
The installation of the shock strut on the wing landing gear.

 B.  
The components on the wing landing gear are very heavy. To prevent damage to the landing gear, you must sufficiently hold the shock strut during the removal and installation. If it is available, you can use a transportation dolly to hold the landing gear. If not, you can use an assembly stand.

 C.  
You must remove the shock strut if it has damaged or worn cylinders. You must also remove the shock strut to remove the lower bearing for a replacement or to change the seals.
