CAUTION: KEEP THE GLAND NUT (9) AND THE OUTER CYLINDER (2) TOGETHER
_______ AS A SET. IF THE OUTER CYLINDER THREADS WERE REWORKED, THE GLAND NUT WOULD BE UNIQUE TO THE OUTER CYLINDER. A DIFFERENT GLAND NUT WILL NOT FIT THE OUTER CYLINDER TIGHTLY AND CAN CAUSE THE LANDING GEAR FAILURE DURING THE OPERATION.
(a)
Use the wrench adapter to remove the lockplate and loosen the gland nut (9).
(b)
Move the gland nut (9), the scraper ring and the retainer down to the inner cylinder yoke.
(c)
Attach the lower bearing puller to the bearing assembly with three rod assemblies.
(d)
Attach the sleeve of the puller around the open chrome part of the inner cylinder (13) and tighten.
(e)
Install the strap through the inner cylinder fork and tighten to the other pair of blocks on the sleeve.

CAUTION:_______LIFT THE AIRPLANE IN THE LEVEL ATTITUDE. DO NOT EXTEND THE STRUTS FULLY. KEEP THE DIMENSION X TO 32.30 INCHES FOR THE BODY LANDING GEAR AS A LIMIT (AMM 12-15-04/301). AND KEEP THE DIMENSION A TO 24.85 INCHES FOR THE NOSE LANDING GEAR AS A LIMIT (AMM 12-15-05/301).
(2)
Add the fluid to three shock struts to lift the airplane until you can get (approximately 10 inches) on the lower bearing (12).

_______ THE INNER CYLINDER WHILE YOU CUT THE SEAL. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE INNER CYLINDER. NICKS AND SCRATCHES ON THE INNER CYLINDER WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEALS DURING OPERATION.
(b)
Cut the used seal (6) and (8) from around the inner cylinder (13).
(c)
Use the plastic tool to prevent damage to the inner cylinder surfaces.
S 118-082
