LANDING GEAR MULTIPLE USE SYSTEM/COMPONENTS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_______________________________________________________________________
1. General (Fig 1)_______________
A. The landing gear multiple use system/components supply data related to the landing gear and other airplane systems. The multiple use system/components are air/ground relays and proximity switch electronics unit (PSEU).
B. The air/ground relays operate as air/ground switches for airplane systems that operate different in the air than on the ground. The position of the landing gear tilt switches tells if the airplane is in the air or on the ground. The PSEU supplies this data to the air/ground relays. The air/ground relays are installed in the Left Power Distribution Center Panel or the Right Power Distribution Center Panel. These panels are in the main E/E equipment center. The air/ground relays need 28-volt power to operate. Bus 1, bus 2, and the battery bus supply power.
C. The PSEU is located at E1-3 in the main equipment center. Bus 1, bus 2, bus 3, bus 4, and the battery bus supply power to PSEU. The PSEU supplies the position and the control data for primary landing gear sensor, alternate landing gear sensor, thrust reverser, and auto restow subsystems. The position data comes from proximity sensors located on the landing gear. The control data goes to the relays that start or stop airplane systems.
D. Two subsystems are provided for the landing system, primary and alternate. The primary and alternate landing gear subsystems consist of:
-Proximity Switch Inputs
-Discrete Inputs
-
Logic Functions Outputs The two subsystems have identical channel assignments with different sensor identifications assignments. Each subsystem has its own power source. One subsystem does not have the priority over the other, they are the redundant systems. If a failure occurs, one subsystem can lose power with no effect to the others.
