8. Scraper Ring Inspection And Optional Split Scraper Ring Installation for Wing_____________________________________________________________________________ Landing Gear (Fig. 202)____________
A. General
(1)
In several instances, scraper ring damage was found during the installation of the spare seals. In some instances, the scraper ring came through the gland nut. To correct this problem, some operators removed the landing gear from the airplane and disassembled the gear to install new seals and a new scraper ring. This task introduces an optional split scraper ring which can be installed without disassembly of the gear. This procedure also has two quick checks to examine the installed scraper ring while the landing gear is on the airplane.
(2)
The split scraper ring is only a temporary replacement. When you disassemble the gear, replace the split scraper ring with the production scraper ring.

WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY INSTALL THE GROUND LOCKS IN ALL LANDING

(1) Install the ground locks in all landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

Scraper Ring Check

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT MOVE OR DAMAGE THE WING GEAR TRUCK
_______ SENSORS OR TARGET BRACKET. IF THE TARGET BRACKET OR SENSORS ARE MOVED, THEN THE AIRPLANE SYSTEMS MAY NOT RECOGNIZE AN IN-AIR CONDITION.

If the sensor or target bracket is moved or damaged, then do the task to measure the wing landing gear truck sensor clearance (AMM 32-61-22/201).

Check the chrome surface of the inner cylinder before you clean it.
(a)
If there are vertical strips of fluid or particles on the chrome surface, replace the scraper ring.
(3)
Use a mirror and a flashlight to examine the scraper ring.

NOTE: Put the mirror below the outer cylinder and against the inner
____ cylinder to examine the condition of the scraper ring.
(a) If you see damage, replace the scraper ring.
