(5) S 494-049Use an applicable sling to hang the jury strut assembly from the shock strut.
(6) S 494-050Use an applicable sling to hang the lower side strut from the shock strut.
(7) S 494-051Use the side strut sling with the hoist to hold the upper side strut.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SLINGS FOR EACH STRUT COMPONENT ARE SAFE BEFORE
_______ YOU REMOVE THE APEX BOLT. THE JURY STRUT AND THE SIDE STRUT COMPONENTS ARE VERY HEAVY. IF A COMPONENT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Remove the apex bolt assembly from the side strut:
(a)
Remove the lockbolt (21).
(b)
Pull the lubrication insert (17) from the apex bolt (20).
(c)
Disconnect the hose bracket (9) from the inboard end of the lower jury strut (4).
NOTE: The hose bracket (9) can hang from the hydraulic lines
____ after you disconnect it from the jury strut.
(d)
Remove the nut (24) from the bolt (19).
1) Use a socket and an extension through the apex bolt (20) to hold the head of the bolt (19).
(e)
Pull the apex bolt (20) with the bolt (19) from the side strut.

Remove the upper spindle bolt (14) from the upper side strut (1):
(a)
Remove the lockbolt (11), the nut (12) and the tang washer (13) from the upper spindle bolt (14).

(b) Pull the upper spindle bolt (14) from the spindle (10). 1) Remove the lubrication insert (15). 2) Remove the swivel bracket.
