 4.  Inner Cylinder Seals Replacement With Spare Seals (Fig. 801)_________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The use of the airplane jacks in this task for the seal replacement is not necessary.

 (2)  
It is necessary to extend the shock strut for the wing landing gear to permit the seal replacement.

 (3)  
When you do this seal replacement, the airplane gross weight must not be more than 564,000 pounds. And the center of gravity must not be more than the flight limits (15-33% MAC) in less than 20 knots wind velocity. In wind more than 20 knots, decrease the maximum approved gross weight of the airplane with the Fig. 806 data. Do not replace the seals in wind more than 50 knots. The wind velocity is independent of direction.

 (4)  
The airplane must have an clean condition (the flaps retracted, the zero stabilizer setting and etc).

 (5)  
The subsequent procedure gives the seal replacement on the shock strut for the left wing landing gear. For the seal replacement on the shock strut for the right wing landing gear, do the equivalent operations.

 (6)  
This procedure gives the removal of the lower bearing for the shock strut with a puller. An optional procedure is to increase the pressure on the shock strut with nitrogen or dry air. It is necessary to have approximately 100 psi to remove the lower bearing. This procedure prevents to use a special tool but is necessary to follow the safety precautions.

 (7)  
As an alternative, fill the shock strut for the nose landing gear with nitrogen or dry air only. Keep the dimension A to a limit to approximately 24.85 inches (AMM 12-15-05/301). Fill the shock strut with nitrogen or dry air for the nose landing gear. And fill the shock strut with oil for the body landing gear at the same time.
