 AIR/GROUND RELAYS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains these five tasks:
 (1)  
Prepare safety-sensitive systems for air mode simulation (par. 2)

 (2)  
Put the air/ground relay system in the air mode (par. 3)

 (3)  
Put the air/ground relay system back in the ground mode (par. 4)

 (4)  
Put safety-sensitive systems back to the condition before air mode simulation (par. 5)

 (5)  
Find if the air/ground relay system is in the air mode or the ground mode (par. 6).

 B.  
Paragraph 2 (Prepare Safety-Sensitive Systems for Air Mode Simulation) is a task that stops the operation of some systems. You can cause damage to these systems or cause injury when you supply air mode signals on the ground.

 (1)  
Procedures that put systems in the air mode tell you to do the task in paragraph 2 (Prepare Safety-Sensitive Systems for Air Mode Simulation).

 (2)  
You must make sure the procedure to "Prepare Safety-systems for Air Mode Simulation" is done before the air mode simulation.

 C.  
Paragraph 3 (Put the Air/Ground Relay System in the Air Mode) is a task that supplies signals of the air mode to all systems on the airplane. Some maintenance procedures tell you to use this task to supply a signal of the air mode to their systems.

 D.  
Paragraph 4 (Put the Air/Ground Relay System Back in the Ground Mode) is a task that removes signals of the air mode from all systems on the airplane.

 E.  
Paragraph 5 (Put Safety-Sensitive Systems Back to the Condition Before Air Mode Simulation) is a task that puts the airplane to its usual condition.

 (1)  
When a maintenance procedure switches between air and ground modes more than once, only do the task to put the airplane back to its usual condition after the procedure is complete.

 F.  
Paragraph 6 (Check of the Air Mode/Ground Mode - Air/Ground Relay System) is a task that does a check of the air/ground relay system for the air mode or the ground mode.
