Prepare for the Procedure
 S 498-100
 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY INSTALL THE GROUND LOCKS IN ALL LANDING
_______ GEAR. AN ACCIDENTAL RETRACTION OF THE LANDING GEAR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  Install the ground locks in all landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).
 S 498-101
 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS BELOW TO INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS
_______ ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

 (3)  
Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

 S 868-037

 (4)  
Release the pressure from the hydraulic system No. 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 (5)  
Deflate the shock strut.

 WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE THE VALVE BODY UNLESS YOU DEFLATE THE SHOCK
_______ STRUT FULLY. THE AIR PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE VALVE OUT AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 (a)  Remove the air valve cap and loosen the outer nut no more than two turns.
 NOTE: Fluid in the shock strut will have bubbles immediately
____ while you decrease the pressure to the ambient pressure. Deflate the shock strut slowly to prevent the leakage of fluid through the air valve.
 (b)  Put the tray below the flow fuse (drain plug).

 (6)  
After you decrease all the pressure on the shock strut, remove the drain plug and drain the fluid (AMM 32-11-02/301).

 (7)  
If it is available, install the retention tool for the shock strut of the landing gear.

 CAUTION: FAILURE TO REMOVE THE TARGET BRACKET FOR THE SENSOR BEFORE THE
_______ SLING INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE BRACKET. AND IT CAN ALSO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE POSITION INDICATION SYSTEM FOR THE LANDING GEAR.
 (8)  
If the retention tool for the shock strut is not available, remove the target bracket for the sensor (AMM 32-61-22/201).

 (a)  
Install the nylon sling to hold the shock strut in the compressed position.

Lift the airplane until the wheels are clear of the ground (AMM 07-11-01/201).

 Put the axle jacks below each end of the truck beam (AMM 07-11-03/201).
