 7.  Landing Gear Indication System (Ref 32-61-00/001)

 A.  The landing gear position indication system monitors the position of the landing gear and landing gear doors. The position data is supplied to the flight crew through the EICAS display units.
 B.  The landing gear position is monitored by proximity switch sensors. The sensors are located on all landing gear and landing gear doors. The sensor signals supply the position data to EICAS display units and other airplane systems.

 LANDING GEAR - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
____________________________________ (AIRPLANE DISPATCH WITH LANDING GEAR LOCKED DOWN)
 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains these four tasks:
 (1)  
The preparation of the airplane for dispatch with the body landing gear and the nose landing gear locked down

 (2)  
The preparation of the airplane for dispatch with the wing landing gear locked down

 (3)  
The procedure to put the airplane back to its usual condition (body landing gear and nose landing gear locked down)

 (4)  
The procedure to put the airplane back to its usual condition (wing landing gear locked down)

 B.  
It is possible to send the airplane when you cannot retract all the landing gear because of these items:

 (1)  
You cannot complete necessary maintenance operations because you cannot lift the airplane on jacks to do tests

 (2)  
Replacement components are not available for the retraction system for the landing gear and the applicable indication system.

 C.  
It is possible to send the airplane on a flight with the wing landing gear locked down.

 D.  
It is possible to send the airplane with the nose landing gear and the body landing gear locked down.

 E.  
The pilot will retract the landing gear that you do not lock down to decrease drag during flight.
