 D. Install the Precooler (Fig. 401)
 S 964-046
 WARNING:_______DO NOT USE FORCE ON THE CONNECTIONS FOR THE DUCT FLANGE. IF IT IS NECESSARY FOR THE INSTALLATION, LOOSEN THE CLAMPS OF THE BLEED SYSTEM. IF YOU USE FORCE ON THE CONNECTIONS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DUCTS.
 (1)  
Install a new E-seal on the exhaust port flange of the bleed air precooler.

 S 434-048

 (2)
Install the bleed air precooler to the nacelle strut structure.


 (a)  Install and tighten the fasteners which fold the upper aft side of the bleed air precooler to the nacelle strut structure.

 (3)  
Position the exhaust flange of the bleed air precooler to the interface for bleed air duct at the nacelle strut firewall.

 (4)  
Install the coupling to hold the precooler exhaust flange to the interface for the bleed air duct at the nacelle strut firewall.


 (a)  Tighten the coupling to 90-110 pound-inches.

 (5)  Put the fixed leg of the forward support linkage in the lugs of the precooler.

 NOTE: Turn the eccentric bolt to adjust the forward support
____ linkage inboard/outboard as necessary to align it with the precooler.
 (a)  
Tighten the eccentric bolt when the parts are aligned.

 (b)  
Tighten the precooler lug.

 (6)  Install the fasteners to hold the adjustable leg of the forward support linkage to the precooler lugs.
 NOTE: The adjustable leg can be adjusted to align it in the
____
 precooler lugs.

 (7)  If the adjustable leg of the forward support linkage needs to be adjusted, do these steps:
 (a)  Adjust the length of the leg so that it aligns with the lug on the precooler.
 NOTE: The nominal length of the adjustable leg is 5.0 inches.

 (b)  
Make sure the rod end goes into the sleeve rod a sufficient distance so that a 0.04 inch diameter wire will not go through the inspection hole.

 (c)  
Safety the jamnut with lockwire (AMM 20-10-44/401).

 (8)  
Tighten the fasteners which hold the adjustable leg of the forward support linkage.

 (9)  
Attach the lower support linkage to the precooler.

 (a)  
Apply anti-seize compound to the shank of the bolt.

 (b)  
Tighten the fastener.

 (10) Connect the shortest support rod to the lower support linkage.
 (a)  
Keep the length of the support rod approximately 5.40 inches.

 (b)  
Install the fasteners.


 S 434-124
 (11) Connect the remaining support rod to the lower support linkage:
 (a)  
Adjust the length of the rod so that it freely aligns with the lower support link and the nacelle strut structure.

 (b)  
If the support rod has to be adjusted, make sure the rod end is in the mating rod a sufficient distance so that a 0.04 inch diameter wire will not go through the inspection hole.

 Install the power plant assembly to the strut (AMM 71-00-02/401).

 Install a new E-seal between PRSOV flange and the precooler intake flange.

 Install the coupling.


 (a)  Tighten the coupling to 95-110 pound-inches.
