 B.  The 5th-stage bleed air check valve prevents reverse flow of bleed air into the fifth-stage engine port. The check valve is mounted on the left side of each engine at the 9 o'clock position.

 C.  Prepare to Remove the 5th-Stage Bleed Air Check Valve

 (1)  
Make sure the applicable engine is not in operation.

 (2)  
Put the forward thrust lever in the fully rearward position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

 (3)  
Put the start lever in the CUTOFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Remove the pressure from the pneumatic system (AMM 36-05-00/201).

Open the applicable circuit breaker for the bleed air control on the P6 panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag.

Attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag to the applicable BLEED switch.

Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 D. Remove the 5th-Stage Bleed Air Check Valve (Fig. 401)

Make a mark to show the position of the clamps which connect the 5th-stage bleed air check valve to the manifold duct.

Remove the V-band clamps which connect the 5th-stage bleed air check valve to the manifold duct.
