 PNEUMATIC DUCT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task removes the ducts of the pneumatic system. The second task installs the ducts of the pneumatic system.
 B.  The ducts for the air conditioning, thermal anti-icing and the pneumatics systems are all attached to the airplane with support clamps. The ducts are put together with the V-band clamps. Some of the ducts sections are made to be short in length. This short length is to make allowance for the thermal expansion caused when the hot air flows through the ducts. When the ducts are installed, the systems are not in operation thus the ducts are cold. The ducts must be stressed by the clamps at the duct joints.
 C.  Some of the V-band clamps are installed in areas where there are control cables. You must be careful you do not cause the clamps to touch the control cables.
 D.  The bleed air duct for the APU is found in the APU compartment. The bleed air duct is attached to the upper shroud and APU bleed air valve. Refer to AMM 49-52-13/401 for the APU bleed air duct removal/installation procedure.

 B.  Prepare to Remove the Ducts
 S 864-002
 (1)  
Make sure the applicable engine is not in operation.

 (2)  
Put the forward thrust lever in the fully rearward position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

 (3)  
Put the start lever in the CUTOFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

 (4)
Remove the pressure from the pneumatic system (AMM 36-05-00/201).

 (5)  
Put all of the BLEED switches to the OFF position and attach a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.

Do the necessary steps that follow to get access to the ducts:

 (a)  Remove the applicable access panels.
