 (8)  Remove the precooler control valve. The contact seal will stay attached to the control valve.
 NOTE: You will move the assembly above the PRSOV then aft and above
____ the thrust link on the left side of the engine. It can be necessary to push the thrust reverser up to get more clearance. If you push on the thrust reverser, make sure the hold-open mechanism is in its position to prevent the thrust reverser cowl from movement down.

 (9)  If it is necessary to install a new precooler control valve, remove the contact seal from the used control valve.
 (a)  Keep the fasteners for the installation.

 (10) Examine the fan air side of the precooler for damage and unwanted material.

Replace the precooler if it is damaged (AMM 36-12-25/401).

 D. Install the Precooler Control Valve

 (1)  Replace the E-seal in the flange of the inlet duct for the fan air.

 (2)  S 214-017Examine the contact seal for damage. (a) If it is necessary, replace the seal.
 (3)  S 864-018Put the precooler control valve in the correct position.
 (4)  S 424-040Loosely install the clamps which hold the control valve.

 CAUTION:_______THE ORIENTATION OF THE VALVE IS CRITICAL. MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE VALVE TO THE CORRECT POSITION TO PREVENT INTERFERENCE WITH THE THRUST REVERSER.
 (5)  
Turn the valve such that the centerline of the valve shaft is 14° from the 12 o'clock position (View A-A, Fig 401).

Attach the connector for the rigid sense line to the left side of the precooler control valve.

Tighten the B-nut at the lower end of the sense line.

Attach the connector for the braided flex sense line on the right side of the valve.

Install the clamp for the PRSOV sense line which is on the left side of the precooler.


 NOTE: Install the forward clamp first.

 (10) Tighten the clamps for the precooler control valve to 100-115 pound-inches.
