WHEN THE ENGINE THROTTLE IS RETARDED AND THE ENGINE BLEED SYSTEM SWITCHOVER OCCUR FROM
5TH-STAGE PRESSURE TO 9TH-STAGE PRESSURE, DUCT PRESSURE CAN DECAY TO AS LOW AS 20 PSIG
BEFORE THE HIGH STAGE VALVE OPENS AND REGULATES THE DUCT PRESSURE TO A NOMINAL 32 PSIG.

D. Do the Operational Test
S 875-045
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE, YOU MUST MAKE SURE THE CLEARANCE
_______ CONTROL TIMER FOR THE HIGH PRESSURE TURBINE (HPT) IS DEACTIVATED. IF YOU DO NOT DEACTIVATE THE CLEARANCE CONTROL TIMER FOR THE HPT, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO OCCUR.
(1) Start the applicable engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).
NOTE: Ignore the fluctuation in the manifold pressure gage with
____
these conditions:
-You move the 1 BLEED and 2 BLEED switches.
-
The isolation valve is closed.
-
The PACK switch is in the closed position.
S 865-046
(2) Put these switches, on the P5-10 panel, to the positions that follow:
(a)
ISOLATION VALVE - CLOSED
(b)
1 BLEED - OFF
(c)
2 BLEED - OFF
(d)
APU BLEED - OFF
(e)
L PACK - OFF
(f)
R PACK - OFF
S 215-047
(3) Examine the manifold pressure gage.
(a) Make sure the pressure gage shows 10.0 psig. or less.
S 865-048
(4) With the engine at idle, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Put the 1 BLEED switch to the ON position. 1) Permit the pressure in the pneumatic ducts to become
stable. 2) Make sure the duct pressure gage shows 10.0 - 25.0 psig.
(b)
Put the L PACK switch to the AUTO position.
(c)
Slowly increase the engine power. 1) Monitor the pressure gage. 2) Make sure the duct pressure goes to 26.0 - 38.0 psig and
becomes stable.
(d)
Slowly increase the engine power to 80% N1.
1) Make sure the duct pressure goes to 34.0 - 50.0 psig and becomes stable.

(e) Slowly decrease the engine power.
1) Make sure the duct pressure goes to 26.0 - 38.0 psig and becomes stable.
NOTE: When the engine bleed system goes from the 5th
____ to the 9th stage bleed, the duct pressure can decrease to approximately 20.0 psig. This can occur before the high stage valve opens and regulates the bleed air.
(f)
Put the 1 BLEED switch to the OFF position.
(g)
Put the L PACK switch to the OFF position.
(h)
After the duct pressure is stable. 1) Make sure the duct pressure is at 10.0 psig or less.
(i)
Stop the engine (AMM 71-00-00/201).
S 715-052
(5) Do this procedure again for the other engine bleed system, if it is necessary.
