A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
(2) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
R R (4) Examine the applicable overheat sensing element (14) and (17) for the correct condition. The element tube must not be twisted and the surface must be free of damage other than the limits that follow:
R (a) The maximum permitted depth of abrasions or dents is 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.).
R (b) The minimum permitted tube diameter at a dent is 1.78 mm (0.0700 in.).
(5) Remove the blanking caps from the overheat sensing element (14) or (17) connectors and examine the connectors for the correct condition. Put the blanking caps on the connectors again.

R B. Installation of the Overheat Sensing Elements 26HF(42HF), 53HF(69HF)
CAUTION : REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST,_______ BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS.
R NOTE : Obey the permitted tolerances for the installation of the sensing____ elements: (Ref. Fig. 406/TASK 36-22-16-991-009, 407/TASK 36-22-16-991-011)
(1) Carefully install the overheat sensing element (14) or (17) and install the applicable grommets (37). Do not remove the blanking caps until the overheat sensing element (14) or (17) is in the position for the connection.
R WARNING : WEAR GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE LOCKWIRE.
_______ R CUT, REMOVE AND DISCARD THE LOCKWIRE AS YOU DO THE R TASK. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT OR BLIND YOU.

Safety the connectors (19), (22), (23), and (24) and the the nuts
(20) with MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-010).
(6)
Close all the clamps (25) to hold the overheat sensing element (14) or (17). Lock the quick-release fasteners (27).

C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s): 3HA1, 2HA1, 3HA2, 2HA2.

D. Test
(1) Do an operational test of the overheat detection system (Ref. TASK 36-22-00-710-001).
