 A. Preparation for Installation
 (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026).
 (2) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
 (3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
R R  (4) Examine the applicable sensing element (1), (2), (7) and (8) for the correct condition. The element tube must not be twisted and the surface must be free of damage other than the limits that follow:
R  (a) The maximum permitted depth of abrasions or dents is 0.05 mm (0.0019 in.).
R  (b) The minimum permitted tube diameter at a dent is 1.78 mm (0.0700 in.).
 (5) Remove the blanking caps from the applicable connectors and examine the connectors for the correct condition. Put the blanking caps on the connectors again.

R  B. Installation of the Overheat Sensing Elements
CAUTION : REMOVE OR INSTALL THE SENSING ELEMENTS CAREFULLY. DO NOT TWIST,_______ BEND OR CAUSE KINKS IN THE SENSING ELEMENTS.
R  NOTE : Obey the permitted tolerances for the installation of the sensing____ elements: (Ref. Fig. 406/TASK 36-22-16-991-009, 407/TASK 36-22-16-991-011)
 (1) Carefully install the applicable overheat sensing element (1), (2), (7) or (8). Do not remove the blanking caps.
 (2) Install a protective sleeve (26) on the overheat sensing element (1), (2), (7) or (8) at each clamp (25).

 (3)
Close the clamps (25) sufficiently to hold the overheat sensing element (1), (2), (7) or (8) in position. The overheat sensing element must be free for you to make the connections.

 (4)
Install the overheat sensing element 29HF(45HF) (1) and 56HF(72HF)

 (8)
 as follows:

 (a)
Remove the blanking caps from the connectors (19) and (22).

 (b)
Install the connector (22) in the flanged attachment (21).

 (c)
Install the nut (20) on the connector (22).

 (d)
 TORQUE the nut (20) to between 0.56 and 0.68 m.daN (49.55 and

 60.17 lbf.in).

 (e)
Install the connector (19) on the connector (22).

 (f)
 TORQUE the connector (19) to between 0.56 and 0.68 m.daN (49.55 and 60.17 lbf.in).
