B. Switch Installation
SUBTASK 27-62-34-420-001
(1) Install the speed brake armed switch [1] and the speed brake handle position switch [6]:
(a) Put the speed brake armed switch [1] and the speed brake handle position switch [6] in
position.
(b) Install the bolts [3], washers [4] and nuts [5].
(c) Attach the electrical leads [2].

(2) Remove the safety tag and close this circuit breaker:

D. Switch Adjustment
SUBTASK 27-62-34-820-002
(1) Adjust the speed brake armed switch [1]:
(a) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.
(b) Move the speed brake lever to the FLIGHT DETENT position.
(c) Loosen the nuts [5].
(d) Move the speed brake lever forward until the aft surface of the detent pin is 0.20 +/-0.02
inches (5.08 +/-0.51 millimeters) from the aft edge of the DOWN detent.
CAUTION: DO NOT BEND THE SWITCH LEVER. TO ADJUST THE SWITCH LOOSEN THE
ATTACHING BOLTS UNTIL THE SWITCH TURNS FREELY.
(e) Adjust the switch until there is continuity between the common and normally open
terminals.
NOTE: Always adjust the switch from the no continuity position to the continuity position.

(2) Adjust the speed brake handle position switch [6]:
(a) Move the speed brake lever to the ARMED DETENT position.
(b) Slowly move the speed brake lever aft 0.25 +0.05/-0.00 inches (6.35 +1.27/-0.00
millimeters).
CAUTION: DO NOT BEND THE SWITCH LEVER. TO ADJUST THE SWITCH LOOSEN THE
ATTACHING BOLTS UNTIL THE SWITCH TURNS FREELY.
(c) Adjust the switch until the switch actuates and there is continuity between the common and
normally open terminals.
NOTE: Always adjust the switch from the no continuity position to the continuity position.
CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE NUTS TOO MUCH.
(d) Tighten the nuts [5].

WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SPEED BRAKE ARMED LIGHT IS ON WHEN YOU LIFT THE SPEED
BRAKES WITH THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER. THE SPEED BRAKES CAN
AUTOMATICALLY RETRACT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(5) Do a test of the switch:
NOTE: The SPEED BRAKE DO NOT ARM light will be off during this test.
(a) Make sure the speed brake lever is in the DOWN position.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THE WEATHER
RADAR SYSTEM. THE FORWARD MOVEMENT OF A THRUST LEVER CAN CAUSE
THE AUTOMATIC OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM. THE OPERATION OF THIS
SYSTEM CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO
