(18) Remove the lockout set, SPL-1734 from the actuator of the leading edge flap. To do this, do this
task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Removal, TASK 27-81-00-080-801.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-860-009
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND
SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(19) Move the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent to retract the leading edge flaps.

(20) Do a check of the flap panel clearances.
(a) For all but the aft 5 inches (127 millimeters) of the flap, make sure the gap between the
inboard Leading edge flap [1] and the outboard Leading edge flap [2] is 0.060-0.150 inch
(1.52-3.81 millimeters).
(b) For the aft 5 inches of the flap, make sure the gap between the inboard Leading edge flap [1]
and the outboard Leading edge flap [2] is 0.060-0.250 inch (1.5-6.4 millimeters).

(21) If the flap panel clearances are out of tolerance, do a check of the wing and flap panel for
damage or warpage.
NOTE: This check is to make sure that the flap and the wing align correctly. There is no
adjustment that you can do.

(22) To remove power from hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(1) Do this task: Leading Edge Flap Removal, TASK 27-81-11-000-801.

(2) Use these tools to do a check for wear on the parts of the leading edge flap:
(a) micrometer (0-1 Inch, readable to 1/1000 Inch), STD-1096
(b) readable to 1/1000 inch vernier 0 - 6 inch caliper, STD-1097.

(3) Examine the parts of the leading edge flap for worn areas:
(a) Remove the parts you want to do a check.
(b) Measure the parts with a micrometer (0-1 Inch, readable to 1/1000 Inch), STD-1096 or a
readable to 1/1000 inch vernier 0 - 6 inch caliper, STD-1097.
(c) Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted wear dimensions.
(d) If the parts are out of tolerance, replace or repair the part if it is necessary.
