3) Turn the downstop [22] to adjust the position of the slat assembly [17].
4) Make sure the stop locator [26] is in the correct position.
5) Tighten the nut [27] to 50-80 pound-inches (5.6-9.0 newton-meters) or the bolt [24] to 72-
88 pound-inches (8.1-9.9 newton-meters).
NOTE: The recommended method is to tighten the nuts.
The optional method is to tighten the bolts.

(12) Use hydraulic power to retract the actuator [1] to the 1-unit position. To retract the actuator, do
this task: Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Retraction, TASK 27-81-00-860-804.
NOTE: This will permit you to install the bolt [20].

(13) Connect the slat actuator [9] to the slat [7]:
(a) Move the slat assembly [17] until it aligns with the slat actuator [9].
(b) Install the bushing [10], bolt [20], washer [19], washer [11] and nut [12] to attach the slat
actuator [9] to the slat assembly [17].
NOTE: Make sure the head of the bolt [20] is on the outboard side of the slat actuator [9].
(c) Tighten the nut [12] to 660-980 pound-inches (74.6-110.7 newton-meters) or the bolt [20] to
882-1078 pound-inches (99.7-121.8 newton-meters).
NOTE: The recommended method is to tighten the nuts.
The optional method is to tighten the bolts.
(d) Install the bolt retainer [18]:
1) Apply compound, C00528 to the shank and threads of the bolts [15].
2) Install the bolts [15] and washers [16] to attach the bolt retainer [18].

(14) Do this task: Leading Edge Slats Adjustment, TASK 27-81-00-820-803.
H. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition
SUBTASK 27-81-21-080-003
WARNING: CAREFULLY REMOVE THE LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATORS LOCKOUT SET. THE
LEADING EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Remove the lockout set, SPL-1734 from the actuators of the adjacent leading edge slats. To do
this, do this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.

(2) Install these access panels on the lower surface of the fixed leading edge:
