F. Slat Actuator and Main Track Downstop Adjustment

WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL
SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE
COMPONENTS CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) To pressurize hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD
THRUST REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR REMOVED BEFORE YOU EXTEND THE
LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FOR
THE FLAPS AND SLATS TO EXTEND IF THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE
INBOARD AND OUTBOARD THRUST REVERSERS ARE IN THE OPEN POSITION. THIS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit position to extend the leading edge slats to the full
extend position.

WARNING: MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR LOCKOUT SET TO
PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE SLATS. THE LEADING
EDGE SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND
DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the adjacent leading edge slats. To install the lockout set, do
this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.

(4) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit position to retract the leading edge slat to the extend
position.
NOTE: If the leading edge slat [31] is in the full extend position, the slat actuator [29] will be
preloaded against the leading edge slat [31].

(5) To remove power from hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(6) Remove the slat actuator door [39] from the slat actuator [40]:
(a) Remove the bolts [35], washers [36], washers [37], and nuts [38] that attach the slat actuator
door [39] to the slat actuator [40].
(b) Remove the bolts [32], washers [33] and nuts [34] that attach the slat actuator door [39] and
the bracket to the slat actuator [40].
(c) Remove the slat actuator door [39].
(d) Temporarily install the bolts [32], washers [33] and nuts [34] to attach the bracket to the slat
actuator [40].

(7) Disconnect the slat actuator [40] from the leading edge slat [31]:
(a) Remove the bolts [46] and washers [47] that attach the bolt retainers [48] to the leading
edge slat [31].

(b) Remove the bolt retainers [48] from the leading edge slat [31].
WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU HOLD THE LEADING EDGE SLAT IN ITS POSITION. THE
LEADING EDGE SLAT CAN FALL TO THE FULL EXTEND POSITION. THIS CAN
CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(c) Hold the leading edge slat [31] while you remove the nut [43], washer [42], bushing [41],
washer [49] and bolt [50].

(8) Carefully let the leading edge slat [31] move down to the full extend position.

(9) Use hydraulic power to extend the slat actuator [40] to the full extend position:
