D. Leading Edge Flap and Slat Timing Test in Primary Mode
SUBTASK 27-81-00-720-001
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE AND
TRAILING EDGE CONTROL SURFACES. THE LEADING EDGE AND TRAILING EDGE
CONTROLS SURFACES CAN EXTEND AND RETRACT QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do a timing test of the leading edge flap and slat control system in primary mode:
NOTE: Measure the time intervals between the time the surfaces start to move to the time the
surfaces stop moving.
(a) If the flap control lever is not in the UP position, do these steps:
1) Move the flap control lever to the UP position.
2) Let the leading edge flaps and slats and the trailing edge flaps move to the retract
position.
(b) Move the flap control lever to the 5-unit detent position.
1) Make sure the leading edge flaps extend fully in 5.5 to 7.5 seconds.
2) Make sure the leading edge slats move to the extend position in 7.5 to 9.5 seconds.
(c) Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit detent.
1) Make sure the leading edge slats move to the full extend position in 2.5 to 3.5 seconds.

1) Make sure the leading edge slats move to the extend position in 3.5 to 4.5 seconds.
2) Let the trailing edge flaps move to the correct position.
(f) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent position.
1) Make sure the leading edge flaps move to the retract position in 7.0 to 9.0 seconds.
2) Make sure the leading edge slats move to the retract poisition in 6.5 to 8.5 seconds.
(g) Make sure the LE indication flaps and slats TRANSIT, EXTEND and FULL EXTEND lights on
the aft overhead panel are off.
