1) Loosen the upper aft aux track locking bolt [91].
a) Loosen the nut [90].
2) Loosen the jam nut [82].
3) Loosen the nut [80] on the locking bolt [79].
4) Turn the adjusting nut [81] until the gap between the slat and the fixed leading edge is
0.0020 -0.0000/+0.0060 inch (0.05 -0.00/+0.15 millimeters).
5) Temporarily tighten the locking bolt [79].
6) Temporarily tighten the jam nut [82].
(f) Reduce the dimension A by 0.0210 ±0.0030 inch (0.53 ±0.08 millimeters) to preload the
slat trailing edge;
1) Loosen the jam nut [82].
2) Loosen the nut [80] to loosen the locking bolt [79].
3) Turn the adjusting nut [81] 180 ±30 degrees clockwise, viewed from below.
(g) Temporarily tighten the locking bolts [79].
(h) Temporarily tighten the jam nuts [82].
(i) Make sure the weighted average misfair is 0.0000-0.0500 inch (0.00-1.27 millimeters).
(j) Make sure the slat endstops touch the horizontal and vertical stop pads.
(k) If the slat endstops do not touch the horizontal and vertical stop pads, adjust the stop pad:
1) Remove the retainers [85], nuts [86] and bolts [89].
2) Add or remove shim [87] as it is necessary until the slat fairs with the adjacent slat.
NOTE: Add or remove only a minimum amount of shim necessary for the slat upstop
to touch the stop pad. To adjust each stop pad, add or subtract in any
combination of 0.0100, 0.0200, 0.0400,and 0.0630 inch thick solid shims. The
total permitted shim thickness is 0.0000 to 0.1280 inch and must be such that
the slat flex skin keeps solid contact with the fixed leading edge.
3) Install the bolts [89], nuts [86] and retainers [85].
(l) Measure and write down the misfairs at six locations for each of these gaps (Table 502);
1) The gap between all adjacent slat ends
2) The gap between the outboard end of slats 1 and 8 and the adjacent fixed leading edge
3) The gap between the inboard end of slats 4 and 5 and the adjacent fixed leading edge.
(m) Measure the slat end gap at three locations for each slat (Table 503).

2) Make sure the gaps between the slat ends and the adjacent fixed leading edge is
0.2500 -0.0600/+0.1500 inch (6.35 -1.52/+3.81 millimeters).

WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS CAN MOVE
QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) To extend the leading edge slats to the full extend (10-unit detent) position, do this task: Leading
Edge Flaps and Slats Extension, TASK 27-81-00-860-803.

(6) Make sure the minimum gap at these locations is 0.2000 inch (5.08 millimeters);
(a) The gaps between all adjacent slat ends.
(b) The gaps between the outboard end of slats 1 and 8 and the adjacent fixed leading edge.
(c) The gaps between the inboard end of slats 4 and 5 and the adjacent fixed leading edge.

(7) To extend the leading edge slats to the (intermediate) extend (1-unit detent) position, do this
task: Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Extension, TASK 27-81-00-860-803.

(8) Make sure the detent roller touch the root of each detent arm.
NOTE: You may manually apply load to the slats to help the slats meet the requirement.

(9) Align the noses of the slats to get a mismatch of 0.0000 to 0.0600 inch (0.00 to 1.52 millimeters)
between the adjacent slats.
(a) Measure the gap between the detent roller and the aft surface of the cam plate.
(b) Make sure the sum of all of the gaps is 0.000 to 0.060 inch (0.00 to 1.52 millimeters).
