TASK 29-11-00-860-801.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-860-005
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND
SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(7) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the leading edge flaps.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-220-001
(8) Measure the full extend angle of the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
(a) Attach a protractor, COM-1691 to the inboard edge of the outboard Leading edge flap [2] or
the outboard edge of the inboard Leading edge flap [1].
(b) Set the protractor, COM-1691 to zero with the leading edge flaps retracted.
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS
CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(c) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent to extend the leading edge flaps.
(d) Make sure the full extend angle of the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1] is 98
+/- 0.5 degrees.
1) If the extend angle is out of tolerance, adjust the length of the flap actuator [4].
a) Loosen the jamnut [45] on the rod end [3].
b) Turn the rod end [3] until you get the correct full extend angle.
NOTE: The limit for maximum adjustment is two full turns.
c) Tighten the jamnut [45] to 550-650 pound-inches (62.1-73.4 newton-meters).
d) Install lockwire, G01912 on the jamnut [45].
(e) Remove the protractor, COM-1691.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-220-002
(9) Make sure the mismatch between the inboard Leading edge flap [1] and the outboard Leading
edge flap [2] is 0 +/- 0.040 inch (0 +/- 1.0 millimeters).
SUBTASK 27-81-11-860-006
(10) Apply preload at the flap bullnose to the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].

(a) Make sure the flap bullnose touches the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
NOTE: To apply the correct preload, the flap bullnose must first touch the Leading edge
flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
1) If the flap bullnose does not touch the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1],
adjust the flap rod [57].
(b) Adjust the flap rod [57] an additional 1/2 turn to apply the correct preload at the flap
bullnose to the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
(c) Install lockwire, G01912 on the flap rod [57].
SUBTASK 27-81-11-860-007
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND
SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(11) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the leading edge flaps.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-220-003
(12) Do a check of the gap at the edge of the Leading edge flap [2] or Leading edge flap [1].
(a) Check the gap at location 1-4, 6-10, 12-19, as shown on Leading Edge Gap/Misfair
Measurement, SHEET (Fig. 402).
1) If all the measurements taken at locations 1-4, 6-10, 12-19 are less than 0.149 inch (3.8
millimeters), then the gap is satisfactory.
2) If one or more of the gap measurements exceeds 0.149 inch (3.8 millimeters), convert
each of the measurements into a Net Effect Value (NEV), usingLeading Edge
Gap/Misfair Measurement, SHEET .
3) Add the NEV measurements together and divide by the total number of measurements.
This gives the total NEV.
4) The Net Effect Limit (NEL) for this measurement is 1.0. The calculated total NEV must be
less than this NEL.
SUBTASK 27-81-11-220-006
(13) Do a check of the mismatch at the forward edge of the Leading edge flap [2] and the Leading
edge flap [1] (View K, (Fig. 401).
(a) Check the mismatch at the forward edge of the Leading edge flap [2] and the Leading edge
flap [1] at locations 1-4 and 6-10 as shown on Leading Edge Gap/Misfair Measurement,
SHEET (Fig. 402).
1) If all the measurements taken at locations 1-4 and 6-10 are within the range -0.048 to
+0.054 inch (-1.2 to +1.4 millimeters), the misfair at the forward edge of the Krueger
flap is acceptable as is without any additional adjustments.
NOTE: See Leading Edge Gap/Misfair Measurement, SHEET for definition of
negative and positive misfair measurements.
2) If one or more of the misfair measurements is outside the range -0.048 to +0.054 inch (-
