(b) Open this circuit breaker and install safety tag:

(c) Move one of the two thrust levers forward to put the speed brake actuator in the down
position.
1) Put the thrust lever back to the idle position.
(d) Slowly move the speed brake lever aft until the ARMED light comes on.
1) Make sure the ARMED light comes on before you move the speed brake lever more
than 0.25 inch (6.35 millimeters) aft of the DOWN position.
NOTE: Measure the distance along the top surface of the speed brake indicator
detent plate.
(e) Move the speed brake lever 1 to 2 inches (25 to 51 millimeters) aft.
(f) Slowly move the speed brake lever forward until the ARMED light is off.
1) Make sure the ARMED light is off before the speed brake lever is less than 0.10 inch
(2.54 millimeters) aft of the DOWN position.

(6) Remove the safety tag and close this circuit breaker:

AUTO SPEED BRAKE MODULE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the auto speed brake module (M980).
(2) An installation of the auto speed brake module (M980).
B. In this procedure the auto speed brake module is referred to as the "module".
C. The module is mounted in the electronic equipment rack, E4-2, which is located in the main
equipment center.
