2) Add or remove shim [87] as it is necessary until the slat fairs with the adjacent slat.
NOTE: Add or remove only a minimum amount of shim necessary for the slat upstop
to touch the stop pad. To adjust each stop pad, add or subtract in any
combination of 0.0100, 0.0200, 0.0400,and 0.0630 inch thick solid shims. The
total permitted shim thickness is 0.0000 to 0.1280 inch and must be such that
the slat flex skin keeps solid contact with the fixed leading edge.
3) Install the bolts [89], nuts [86] and retainers [85].
(e) Adjust the aft support of the auxiliary track [72];
1) Loosen the upper aft aux track locking bolt [91].
a) Loosen the nut [90].
2) Loosen the jam nut [82].
3) Loosen the nut [80] on the locking bolt [79].
4) Turn the adjusting nut [81] until the gap between the slat and the fixed leading edge is
0.0020 -0.0000/+0.0060 inch (0.05 -0.00/+0.15 millimeters).
NOTE: Measure the gap at the highest point, within 2.00 inches (50.8 millimeters) on
either side of the each auxiliary track centerline. Measure the gap to a depth
of 0.4000-0.6000 inch (10.16-15.24 millimeters).
5) Temporarily tighten the locking bolt [79].
6) Temporarily tighten the jam nut [82].
7) Temporarily tighen the upper aft aux track locking bolt [91].
(f) Measure and calculate the weighted average misfair.
1) Measure the misfair at six locations for each specified gap (Table 502);
NOTE: There will be a total of 30 locations on each wing that you will need to
measure.
a) The gap between all adjacent slat ends
b) The gap between the outboard end of slats 1 and 8 and the adjacent fixed leading
edge
c) The gap between the inboard end of slats 4 and 5 and the adjacent fixed leading
edge.

2) Multiply all negative fair measurements by -0.5.
3) Add all the misfair values (positive and negative misfairs).
4) Divide the total misfair value by 6.
5) Make sure the result is 0.0000-0.0500 inch (0.00-1.27 millimeters).
(g) Make sure the slat endstops touch the horizontal and vertical stop pads.
(h) If the slat endstops do not touch the horizontal and vertical stop pads, adjust the stop pad:
1) Remove the retainers [85], nuts [86] and bolts [89].

(3) Do the final adjustment of the leading edge slat in the (intermediate) extend position:
WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS
CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
(a) To extend the leading edge slat to the (intermediate) extend (1-unit detent) position, do this
task: Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Extension, TASK 27-81-00-860-803.
(b) Align the noses of the slats to get a mismatch of 0.0000 to 0.0600 inch between adjacent
slats.
(c) Make sure the detent roller touch the root of each detent arm.
(d) Make sure the gap between the detent roller and the aft surface of the cam plate is 0.0000 to
