(7) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the actuators of the adjacent leading edge flaps and slats. To
do this, do this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.

(8) With the slat in the 1-unit detend position, make sure the gap between the inboard proximity
sensor [4] and the target [9] is 0.115-0.135 inch (2.92-3.43 millimeters).
(a) If the gap is out of tolerance, adjust the gap between the proximity sensor [4] and the target
[9].
1) Remove the bolts [5] or [6], washers [7], shim [3], spacer [1] or [2] and nuts [8].
2) Add or remove shim [3] as it is necessary to get the correct gap between the proximity
sensor [4] and the target [9].
3) Install the bolts [5] or [6], washers [7], spacer [1] or [2], and nuts [8].
(b) Bond shims [3] and spacer [1] or [2] to the bracket with adhesive, A00165.

WARNING: REMOVE THE LOCK FROM LEADING EDGE FLAP ACTUATOR CAREFULLY TO
PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING
EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONNEL,
AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(9) Remove the lockout set, SPL-1734 from the actuators of the leading edge flap and slats. To do
this, do this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Removal, TASK 27-81-00-080-801.

WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND
SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(10) Retract the leading edge slats to the UP position with primary control. To do this, do this task:
Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Retraction, TASK 27-81-00-860-804.

LOCKOUT SET TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS. THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS CAN MOVE QUICKLY.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(11) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the actuators of the adjacent leading edge flaps and slats. To
do this, do this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.

(12) On leading edge slat 1 or 8, make sure the gap between the (inboard or outboard) proximity
sensor [4] and the target [14] is 0.115-0.135 inch (2.92-3.43 millimeters).
(a) If the gap is out of tolerance, adjust the gap between the proximity sensor [4] and the target
[14].
1) Remove the nuts [12], washers [11], shim [13], and bolts [10] to remove the target [14].
2) Add or remove shim [13] as it is necessary to get the correct gap between the proximity
sensor [4] and the target [14].
3) Install the bolts [10], target [14], washers [11] and nuts [12].
