LEADING EDGE SLAT ACTUATOR - INSPECTION/CHECK
1. General
A. There is one task in this procedure. The procedure has this task:
(1) A visual check of the leading edge slat actuator lock indicator.

WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL
SURFACES, THE THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE
COMPONENTS CAN MOVE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) To pressurize hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,

WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS
AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS WILL EXTEND.
THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD
THRUST REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR REMOVED BEFORE YOU EXTEND THE
LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FOR
THE FLAPS AND SLATS TO EXTEND IF THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE
INBOARD AND OUTBOARD THRUST REVERSERS ARE IN THE OPEN POSITION. THIS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Move the flap control lever to the 10-unit position.
(a) Make sure the leading edge slats move to the full extend position.

(3) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the adjacent leading edge slats. To install it, do this task:

E. Leading Edge Slat Actuator Lock Indicator Visual Check
SUBTASK 27-81-41-010-001
(1) Remove the slat actuator door [8] from the slat actuator [9]:
(a) Remove the bolts [4], washers [5], washers [6] and nuts [7] that attach the slat actuator door
[8] to the slat actuator [9].
(b) Remove the bolts [1], washers [2] and nuts [3] that attach the slat actuator door [8] and the
bracket to the slat actuator [9].
(c) Remove the slat actuator door [8].
(d) Temporarily install the bolts [1], washers [2] and nuts [3] to attach the bracket to the slat
actuator [9].

(2) Do a visual check of the leading edge slat actuator lock indicator:
(a) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent position to retract the slats.
(b) Make sure the lock indicator hole is open.
(c) Put a 0.115-0.125 inch (2.92-3.18 millimeters) diameter steel rod in the lock indicator hole.
(d) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent position.
(e) Make sure the actuator is not locked and extends to the extend position.
(f) Remove the steel rod from the lock indicator hole.
(g) Make sure the lock indicator hole is not open.

(3) Install the slat actuator door [8] on the slat actuator [9].
(a) Remove the bolts [1], washers [2] and nuts [3] that attach the bracket to the slat actuator [9].
1) If there are three washers installed on the bolts [1], discard the thicker aluminum
washer.
