WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS AND SLATS AND THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS. THE FLAPS AND SLATS WILL
EXTEND. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE INBOARD AND OUTBOARD
THRUST REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR REMOVED BEFORE YOU EXTEND THE
LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FOR
THE FLAPS AND SLATS TO EXTEND IF THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE
INBOARD AND OUTBOARD THRUST REVERSERS ARE IN THE OPEN POSITION. THIS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(3) Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent to extend the leading edge flaps.

WARNING: CAREFULLY INSTALL THE LEADING EDGE FLAP ACTUATOR LOCK TO PREVENT
ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THE LEADING EDGE
FLAPS CAN MOVE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE
TO EQUIPMENT.
(4) Install the lockout set, SPL-1734 on the actuator for adjacent leading edge flap. To install the lock,
do this task: Leading Edge Flap and Slat Locks Installation, TASK 27-81-00-480-801.
E. Leading Edge Flap Actuator Removal
SUBTASK 27-81-31-020-001
(1) Disconnect the applicable actuator [11] or [12] from the leading edge flap:
(a) Remove the pin [19], nut [24], washer [23], washer [22], bushing [21], washer [20] and bolt
[18] that attach the actuator [11] to the No. 1 leading edge flap [1].
(b) Remove the pin [26], nut [30], washer [29], washer [22], bushing [28], washer [27] and bolt
[25] that attach the actuator [12] to the No. 2 leading edge flap [2].

(2) Move the flap control lever to the UP detent to retract the applicable actuator [11] or [12].

(3) To remove power from hydraulic system B, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Power
Removal, TASK 29-11-00-860-805.

(4) Remove the leading edge flap actuator [11] or [12]:
(a) Disconnect the three hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10]:
1) Remove the screws [6], nuts [7] and clamps [5] that attach the hydraulic line [4] to the
bracket [8].
2) Disconnect the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10] from the hydraulic fittings [3].

3) Install the plugs in the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10].
4) Install caps in the hydraulic fittings [3].
(b) Remove the nut [17], washer [16], washer [14], bolt [13] and bushing [15] that attach the
actuator [11] or [12] to the structure.
(c) Remove the actuator [11] or [12].
NOTE: Remove the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10] with the actuator [11] or [12].

(5) If you will install a new actuator [11] or [12], remove the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10]:
(a) Remove the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10] from the actuator [11] or [12].
(b) Install the plugs in the ends of the hydraulic lines [4], [9] and [10].
(c) Install caps in the hydraulic ports on the actuator [11] or [12].
