E. Valve Installation
SUBTASK 27-62-41-800-001
(1) Make sure the valve lever [17] move smoothly through the full range of travel.
SUBTASK 27-62-41-420-001
(2) Install the valve assembly [8]:
(a) Install the packing [4] and packings [9] and reducer [3] and reducers [10] in the hydraulic
ports on the valve assembly [8]:
1) Remove the caps from the ports in the valve assembly [8].
2) Apply a thin layer of grease, D00633 on the packing [4] and packings [9].
3) Install the packing [4] and packings [9] and the reducer [3] and reducers [10] in the
hydraulic ports.
(b) Remove the plugs from the hydraulic line [2] and hydraulic lines [11].
(c) Put the valve assembly [8] in its position on the bracket [1].
(d) Loosely install the connections for the hydraulic tubes on the valve assembly [8].
(e) Install nuts [7], washer [6] and bolts [5] that attach the valve assembly [8].
(f) Install bolt [12] with the bolt head up, washer [13], nut [14] and pin [15].
(g) Tighten the connections for the hydraulic lines.

(2) Pressurize speed brake hydraulic system A. To pressurize, do this task: Speed Brake Hydraulic
Systems A and B Pressurization, TASK 27-62-00-800-801

(3) Examine the hydraulic connections on the valve assembly [8] for leakage.

(4) Move the speed brake lever through more than one full cycle to bleed the hydraulic system.

(5) Do the test fo the valve assembly [8]:
(a) Make sure the speed brake lever is in the DOWN position.
(b) Move the speed brake lever aft until the ground spoilers move to the extended position.
(c) Make sure the speed brake lever is 29 +/-2 degrees (2.66 +/-0.20 inches) (67.6 +/-5.1
millimeters) aft of the DOWN position.

(d) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position.
(e) Move the speed brake lever forward until the ground spoilers move to the retracted
position.
(f) Make sure the speed brake lever is 21 +/-4 degrees (1.93 +/-0.40 inches) (49.0 +/-10.2
millimeters) aft of the DOWN position.
(g) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.

(6) Put the speed brake hydraulic system A back to the condition before pressurization. To do this,
do this task: Put the Speed Brake Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before
the Pressurization, TASK 27-62-00-840-801

(7) Make sure the hydraulic reservoirs are full. To fill them, do this task: Hydraulic Reservoir
