PLACARD
Associated start selector (overhead panel) - START VALVE INOP MAINTENANCE (M)
CAUTION: MANUAL OPERATION OF THE START VALVE WITHOUT AIR PRESSURE IN START DUCT
MAY DAMAGE VALVE.
CAUTION: CLOSE VALVE PROMPTLY UPON COMMAND TO AVOID STARTER DAMAGE.
Establish communication with flight deck.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE SHORTER EXTENSIONS TO MAKE UP THE 18-INCH EXTENSION.
DAMAGE TO ENGINE COULD RESULT.
Insert a 3/8-inch square drive 18-inch extension through access port in right fan cowl and engage drive into valve override internal receptacle.
Upon command from flight deck, rotate the drive to open the valve.
Upon command from flight deck, promptly rotate the drive to close the valve.
Remove the drive from the access port.

MANUAL OVERRIDE START
Perform normal engine start procedure except:
Announce “OPEN START VALVE.” Position the engine start selector to GND.
At 51% N2 announce “CLOSE START VALVE.” Verify that the engine start selector returns to AUTO, and that the start VALVE light on the overhead panel momentarily illuminates, then extinguishes.
AIR START
If an inflight restart becomes necessary, ensure that airspeed is sufficient for a windmilling start (see Airplane Flight Manual speed requirements).

Manually hold the start selector in the GND position for engine start.
Rotate the start selector to the AUTO position at 51-52% N2.
CAUTION: DELAYING ROTATION OF THE START SELECTOR TO THE AUTO POSITION CAN CAUSE
